Identification of key determinants of travel satisfaction for developing policy instrument to improve quality of life: An analysis of commuting in Delhi

Commuting between an origin and destination pair is one of the most critical components individual's daily activity, associated trip satisfaction significantly influences a commuter's well-being. Owing to negative externalities with urban travel such as increased congestion, poor roadway infrastructure, inadequate unreliable public transport system, safety security concerns, reduction in perceived could be observed among Indian commuters. Thus, it prudent analyze commuters' perception towards related for formulating policy instruments improve experience. This paper identified key determinants different types trips capital New Delhi. A Travel survey questionnaire was designed elicit daily, work, non-work trips. Based on 898 responses, set ordered logit models were estimated. It found that socio-demographic factors gender age, accessibility built-environment characteristics streets' level availability existing condition sidewalks, bus stop safety, significant satisfaction.
